Independent China procurement

How Cleary Building Screens Steel Suppliers

Cleary Building provides independent China sourcing and procurement coordination. This site is separate from the original brand and has no dealership authorization.

The procurement scope covers steel warehouses, workshops and hangars. It starts with a buyer brief and a supplier shortlist. The chosen supplier manufactures the package, and the appointed engineer retains responsibility for design and local approval.

Shop floor with drilled splice plates and piece marks

Sourcing records from design basis to marked bundles

The following gates describe what a procurement file can ask a candidate supplier to produce. Confirm each deliverable and its owner in the purchase scope.

01

Criteria freeze

Record wind, snow, seismic basis, clear span and occupancy before sending the brief to suppliers. Ask the engineer to resolve open loads before accepting a fabrication release.

02

Shop drawings

Ask bidders for a general arrangement and identify who will issue the anchor plan, including setting tolerances. A separate foundation interface schedule helps the local civil designer check reactions against the proposed grid.

03

Heat numbers

Request sample Q355 or S355 mill documents where applicable, then verify the supplied grade and heat against part marks during inspection.

04

Pack marks

Bundles, bolt bags, and a container loading plan for knock-down members. Welded pieces that exceed a 40-foot frame are called out before they reach the packing bay.

Between drawing and pack, fit-up, weld, and coating sit in their own holds. AWS D1.1 is referenced when the North American order names it. EN 1090 execution class is referenced when the European order names it. Neither code is assumed from the shipping destination alone. A building headed to a Gulf port may still be designed to a project specification that points at ASCE 7 or a local code. The port does not choose the code.

Evidence requested at four sourcing gates

These records indicate what has been reviewed at each sourcing gate. Production capacity must be checked against the candidate shop, fabrication dates and concurrent orders.

Traceability from steel heat to piece mark

Mill certificate folder beside a column piece mark

Mill certificates stay with the piece

Grade, heat, and product analysis are checked against the call-up. If the specification says S355 and the certificate shows a different grade, the piece does not move to fit-up. Galvanized secondary members carry coating mass, such as a Z275 class when that class is specified, on the same trail. Painted primary members carry surface preparation and dry-film checks instead. Mixing the two records in one sentence is how cut-edge repairs get lost.

Weld gauge on a flange splice

Weld procedure and coating repair are paired

A procedure is qualified for the process, position, and steel group named on the WPS cover. Visual inspection and any NDT the contract adds are filed by piece mark. Where galvanizing is welded through, the repair paint or zinc treatment is a line on the same record. The limitation is plain: a qualified procedure for one joint does not qualify a different joint detail, and a shop visual check is not a site torque check on a bolted splice.

Ask the erector and supplier to agree on temporary bracing, anchor projection and survey records before the first column is stood. An inspection photo can document the check, while the foundation and erection designers retain their respective responsibilities.

Illustrative delivery scope reviews

These examples illustrate how a buyer can compare delivery boundaries. They describe hypothetical requirements.

Warehouse bay braced during erection

Two-bay warehouse, documented bracing

In an illustrative two-bay warehouse brief, ask suppliers to identify whether the price includes temporary erection bracing. Assign the installation sequence and bracing design to the parties responsible for them.

Building type: portal warehouse. Quantity: 2 bays in the study model. Delivery scope: frame, bracing note, purlin pack.

Insulated wall panels staged beside girts

Cold-shell envelope held for a joint detail

In an illustrative cold-storage brief, ask for the panel core, joint geometry and door as separate line items. Request a system test whose scope matches the proposed assembly before agreeing to a rated configuration.

Building type: cold-storage shell. Quantity: 1 envelope package. Delivery scope: girts and panel hold, not a fire certificate.

Request a project evidence checklist

Send the current revision of your brief and name the supplier records you need. We can align the quotation comparison and the inspection checklist to the same part list.
